JUANITA F. MERRILL , 68, of Groveton passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Lancaster, NH on June 18, 1948 the daughter of Fay K. Hawksley and Alberta (Astle) Hawksley. She lived in Groveton all her life.

Juanita was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for several years. She was a member of the New Hampshire 8/40 Salon #264 La Boutique Des Huit.

Her greatest passion was being a 40 plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She held the office of Unit President and has been Secretary for many years on the District level; she was a District Director and was currently serving as District Treasurer. She held several Department Chairmanships in the past, her favorite as Junior Activities Chairman. Her "girls" were very special.

She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, doing crossword puzzles, playing BINGO and time spent with her grandsons.

Juanita was predeceased by her parents; and her husband Richard P. Merrill on April 10, 1993.

She is survived by her son Scott Brousseau and wife Kris of Gorham, ME; grandsons Stephen, Edward and Andrew of Durham, ME; brother Lee Hawksley and wife Oriole of Groveton, brothers-in-law Robert Merrill and wife Sarah of Goffstown, NH and James Merrill and wife Gail of Winchester, NH; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Bradley Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
