Kathleen Barbara (Gallant) Emerson, 80, died peacefully at her home, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, after a long struggle with heart failure. Born on July 6, 1938, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Kathy was the eldest of four children born to her parents Joseph Emile & Kamma Elinor (Mortenson) Gallant. She was raised in Montreal, Quebec and graduated from the St. Louis School of Nursing in Berlin, NH, where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Jim Emerson. After a long distance romance, they were married on March 31, 1962. A marriage that lasted 52 years until Jim's death in 2014.

Kathy loved her family fiercely with her youngest grandson, Xander, holding a special place in her heart. She would do anything for her family.

Kathy loved being a nurse, serving for over 50 years in different capacities; as a school nurse in Groveton and later in North Stratford for more than 20 years. She also worked for nearly two decades at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster. She loved spending her summers with her family at her camp on Maidstone Lake where she made many lifelong friends. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time having brunch with many of those friends each Thursday at the North Country Family Restaurant.

Kathleen is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Wild of Southern Pines, NC and three sons, all of Groveton, Kevin (Dorothy) Emerson, Brian Emerson, and Andrew (Samantha) Emerson. She also leaves 10 grandchildren (Dana, Melissa, Amy Beth, Joshua (Jessica), Timothy (Brittany), Jacob, Ethan (Maylynda), MacKenzie, Lacey, and Xander) and 9 great-grandchildren (Rebekah, Chloe, Noah, Makailyn, Gale, Isaiah, Gabriel, Rhylie and James).

Kathy was predeceased by her husband Jim and her parents, as well as two of her siblings, Donald Gallant and Diana Menard, a son Michael Ralph Emerson in 1969 and a great-grandson, Davey Emerson in 1999. As per Kathy's request, there will not be a funeral. There will be a celebration of her life at later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
