LAWRENCE "LOLLY" R.
Lolly was born on August 30, 1936, in Bloomfield, VT a son of George and Alice (Veilleux) LaPointe. He grew up and lived in Stratford, NH until moving to Groveton in 1979. He was a graduate of the Stratford High School, class of 1954.
Lolly worked in the Beater Room as Beater Engineer and later Beater Room Supervisor for James River Corp. and Wausau Papers for a total of 36 years before retiring when Wausau closed in 2008.
Lolly was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, St. Francis Xavier Church. He loved the outdoors; hunting; fishing; gardening; mowing lawns and feeding the deer. He was an avid RED SOX fan and "the best cribbage player in the East".
Lolly is survived by his life partner, Sandy White of Groveton; his three children Hal A. LaPointe of Anchorage, Alaska; Ross LaPointe of Port Charlotte, FL; and Della Burnham of Stratford, NH and their mother Joan LaPointe of Lancaster, NH; Sandy's children James Lindsay of Lake Placid, FL; Candace Lovell of Groveton, NH and Jon White of Gainesville, FL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother Norman LaPointe and wife Jackie of Lewiston, ME; one sister Yvette Gorneau of Connecticut and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lolly was predeceased by his parents; four brothers Bertrum LaPointe; Real LaPointe; Marcel LaPointe and Rene LaPointe and one sister Minette Purpora.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 2-4 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 11:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Emerson Road Cemetery.
