Leona E. DeMers , 81, of Stark NH, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018, at the Morrison Nursing Home surrounded by family.

Leona was born on May 30, 1936, in Groveton, NH the daughter of Clyde Hickey and Laura E. (Gagnon) Hickey Oakes. She was a lifelong resident of Stark, a member of the St. Francis/St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish in Groveton, and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17, Groveton.  Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, cake decorator, enjoyed playing bingo, avid bird watcher, loved to knit, play on the computer, and doing word search books.

She is survived by her children Deborah Moulton and husband John from Florida, Dale DeMers from South Carolina, Dean DeMers and s/o Stacie Hickey of Stark, and Timothy DeMers of Littleton; her Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.  She is also survived by a step-brother Eddie Oakes of New York and step-sister Helen Paul of South Carolina.

Leona was preceded by her husband Bruce "Bill" DeMers, and her siblings, Stanley, Iva, Norman, Joseph, Leon, Richard, and Oscar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on June 9, 2018, at 12:00 noon at St Francis Xavier church in Groveton, with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the Emerson Road Cemetery in Stark, followed by a Celebration of Life at the family residence. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Morrison Nursing Home Rehabilitation-Unit, 6 Terrace St., Whitefield, NH 03598.
