Linda Sue (Burt) Jewell, 64 of Groveton passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Weeks Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on March 8, 1951 in Concord, VT. She was the eldest of Stuart and Norma (Aldrich) Burt's three children. Linda was raised in Lunenburg, VT and graduated from White Mountain Regional in 1969. Linda relocated to Groveton with her husband Bradley, where they raised their beautiful children, Alyssa and Adam. Linda is survived by her husband of 41 years, Brad Jewell of Groveton, her daughter, Alyssa Jewell-Lemaire and her husband, Derek Lemaire and their children; Chloe Jane Lemaire and Ethan Bradley Lemaire of Raleigh, North Carolina, her son, Adam Jewell and his girlfriend Elizabeth Ball of Groveton, her sister, Peggy Keach and husband Bob Keach of Falmouth, ME, her brother, Kevin Burt of Concord, VT, sister-in-law, Pam and husband Bill Welcome of Belmont, NH, sister-in-law, Marilyn and husband Alan Morgenthau of Portsmouth, brother-in- law, Curt Jewell and wife Judy of Groveton, brother-in-law, Scott Jewell and wife Jen of Littleton and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both of her parents, Stuart and Norma Burt, her father and mother-in- law, John and Eleanor Jewell. Linda held various positions within the workforce and was the true definition of diligence! She took great pride in the value of hard work and getting to know her colleagues and those around her. Linda was a pillar of true compassion, love, strength, wisdom, class and courage. Her unwavering grace and perseverance to assist others will live on. Linda was an avid race fan and a community driven woman. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary in Groveton and especially enjoyed helping with all the holiday events for the children within the community. At Linda's request, there will be no visiting hours; there will be a private service at the family's convenience. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the American Legion Post #17 in Groveton at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda's memory may be made to the American Legion Post # 17; Ladies' Auxiliary; C/O Juanita Merrill; 3 Roaring Brook Dr.; Groveton, NH 03582 for children's activities and events.
