LLOYD C. WHEELOCK, 88, formerly of O'Dell Park in Groveton died peacefully at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Born in Groveton, NH on July 24, 1924 the son of Carroll and Veora (Hunter) Wheelock, he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1942. Lloyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a member of the Co M 3rd Battalion 264th Infantry Regiment of the 66th Division and was in charge of 16 enlisted personnel. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #17 in Groveton. Lloyd retired from Diamond International/James River in 1984 where he worked as supervisor of the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed woodworking; making furniture; hunting and fishing. He is survived by his four children Alan Wheelock and wife Barbara; Cathy Hass and husband Jon; Joan Chessman and companion Randy Gonyer; and Lynn Mason and husband Paul all of Groveton; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He was predeceased by his wife 58 years Roselyn (Conley) Wheelock on December 12, 2007 and two sisters, Melba Wheelock and Norma Beattie. At Lloyd's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org
