Obituary

Retired Major Doris E. Woodward of Tampa, Florida, passed away on October 19, 2021. Major Woodward served in the United States Air Force. During her 20 years of military service, she spent time as a clinical nurse in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star for Bravery. She will always be remembered for her strong faith, her tenacious spirit, and her compassion for helping others in need.

Major Woodward ("Woody") grew up in Groveton, NH, the daughter of Rose Gaudette Woodward and Walter H. Woodward and was a graduate of Groveton High School. One of 11 children, she is survived by her sister, Shirley Warren, of Rochester, NH, and her brother, Robert Woodward, of Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents and her other siblings—Roland Woodward, Eleanor "Tootsie" Wiles, Lawrence "Micky" Woodward, Elvin "Bud" Woodward, Neil Woodward, David Woodward, Barbara Dupuis, and Bethany "Betty" Woodward. Woody also leaves behind her many nieces and nephews and her beloved dachshund, Babe.

A military funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Northumberland Cemetery, with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish officiating. Major Woodward will be laid to rest with her New Hampshire family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton, NH.
