MARIAN RUTH (TEARE) ASTLE, 79, of O'Dell Park, Groveton died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. Born July 14, 1928 in Whitefield, NH a daughter of Frank and Hazel (Young) Teare, she has been a resident of Groveton for over 60 years coming from Milan. She was a graduate of the one room school house in Milan in 1945 and received one year nursing training at Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing. Marian was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and was very active in the church. She was a choir member at the church for many years; enjoyed square and round dancing and gardening. Mrs. Astle knew how to fly airplanes. She had taken a trip with some of the church women to Israel. Mrs. Astle is survived by her son William "Billy" Astle and his wife Regina of Guildhall, VT; daughter Susan Astle of Berlin, NH; two sisters Pearl Koskela of Dublin, NH and Catherine Minichiello of Phoenix, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friend and companion Melvin Somers of Lyndonville, VT and a dear friend Gayla Rivard also of Lyndonville, VT. She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 40 years Edgar Astle February 27, 1986 and one brother Gene Teare. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 31st from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sherry O'Bara, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marian's name to the charity of one's choice.
