Obituary

MAURICE EUGENE GOULET; 95, of Hillside Ave, Groveton, died peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Week's Medical Center, Lancaster after a brief illness. Born August 27, 1911 in Canada, one of twelve children to Joseph and Mary (Morrison) Goulet, he lived most of his adult life in Groveton. As a young man he worked in the woods cutting and hauling pulp with his brothers. He moved to Groveton in 1950 and worked for Groveton Paper Board for 27 years retiring at the age of 65. Maurice married Leone Aldrich on May 1, 1944 and they had five children. Maurice enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and in the spring time going to Lemmington to the Daley's and watching the process of making maple syrup. He never lost his love for Canada and enjoyed visiting whenever possible. Even though he was unable to join the military, he was very patriotic and was proud of all his relative and friends who did join. He will be greatly missed by all who know him. His family includes three daughters Marie Eva Goulet of Effingham, NH; Debbie Goulet and Kellie Goulet both of Groveton; eight grandchildren, Chris Ann Brock; Gina McConnell; Stephanie Konopka; Stephen Fox, Jr.; Rebecca Macke; Lindsey LaCasse; Jessica McFarland; and Specialist Jason Goulet. Eight great grandchildren, brothers and sisters Leo Goulet; George "Pete" Goulet; Rita Crawford; Elizabeth "Betty" Lewis and Theresa Fogg all of Groveton along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Leone on Dec. 2, 1986 an infant daughter in 1959 and his son Michael Goulet on March 19, 1998; sisters Regina Goulet; Mary Platt and Yvonne Daley; brothers Aimee; infant Paul; and Charles. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Rosary will be recited at 7:15 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 4th at 2:00 pm at the St. Francis Xavier Church; 11 State Street; Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
