MEDORA F. MATTHEWS, 89, of Spring Street, Groveton, died peacefully December 1, 2013 at her residence after a sudden illness. She was born on March 13, 1924 in Norton, Vermont a daughter of the late: Felix and Mary (Kehoe) Devost and has been a resident of Groveton most of her life. For more than 50 years until the early 2000's; Medora took care of children in Groveton from as young as only a few days old up to early teen. She loved to walk; read; and collect bottles and cans for Abby. Medora was very active in church activities and really enjoyed working BINGO; the Jingle Bell Fair and the Penny Sale. Medora is survived by several nieces, nephews and her Groveton extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Lucien on March 25, 1970. At Medora's request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish officiating. Burial will be on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery.
