MICHAEL AUBURN "ROOSTER" GRAY, SR. 68, of Jefferson, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Mike was born on April 23, 1957, in Lancaster, NH, to the late Dewey Alonzo and Mildred (Cass) Gray. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson and never left town unless it was for an emergency or work.

"Rooster," as he was affectionately known as by his family and friends, grew up farming and then transitioned to trucking and excavating, and owned Mike Gray and Son Trucking and Excavating in Jefferson. In his younger years, Rooster was a member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department. He liked four-wheeling and loved to make things that should be thrown away work again.

Mike is survived by his companion of eight years Betty Smith of Jefferson, two children Michael Gray Jr, and wife Gina of Jefferson, and Terry Hamilton and husband Donald of Groveton, three grandchildren Shane Gray and fiancée Alyssa Rabida of Lancaster, Addison Hamilton and Kara Hamilton of Groveton, one sister Barbara Sheep and husband Mathew of Ft. Myers, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Roberta J. Gray, and five brothers, William Gray, Franklin Gray, Wayne Gray, Murray Gray, and Clayton Gray.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Kilkenny View Cemetery in Jefferson, with a Celebration of Life following at the Perras Treasures in Groveton. arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
