Michael Wilfred Potvin, 57, died peacefully at his residence on Monday, February 10, 2014. He was surrounded by his family and his favorite dog Lily, just like he wanted. He fought a three year long battle with cancer so courageously that he was given the nickname "Superman" by his family. Michael will be remembered by all for his silly sense of humor and goofball antics, which continued through his final days. He was born on December 16, 1956 in Manchester, NH. The son of Lucien R. and Jeannette R. (Tassis) Potvin. Michael was raised in the Manchester area; lived in Weare, NH for 20 years where he worked for the Town of Weare Public Works/Highway Department. He moved to North Stratford nine years ago. He worked as a delivery driver for various home heating companies, with Styles Fuel Co. in Whitefield being the most recent until his illness. Michael enjoyed the outdoors; fishing; hiking; canoeing; four-wheeling; and was a "master putterer" around the yard. He loved taking trips with his girls to the beach to teach them how to search the rocks for starfish and shells. Time spent with his wife and daughters was special to Michael as well as his beloved granddaughters to whom he was their beloved "Pepper". He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Julia (Prue) Potvin of North Stratford; two daughters Melissa Potvin of Maine and Jennifer Potvin-Carter of Weare, NH; two granddaughters Ericka Potvin and Hannah Chaput both of Maine; his father and step-mother Lucien Potvin, Sr. and Carol Potvin of York, ME; his sister Linda Ducharme and husband Jean of New Ipswich, NH; brother David Potvin and wife Betty of Bedford, NH; brother Gerard Potvin and wife Nancy of Goffstown, NH; brother Richard Potvin of Waterboro, ME; brother Roger Potvin and wife Monique of Naples, FL; sister Diane Uguccioni and husband Marc of Winchendon, MA; brother Lucien, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Corinth, ME and several nieces and nephews.
