MILDRED MINNIE (EATON) KNAPP, 89, of Melcher Street, Groveton, died unexpectedly at her residence on Friday, July 12, 2013 after a sudden illness. She was born in Epping, NH on April 29, 1924 a daughter of William Henry and Elizabeth Marie (Robinson) Eaton; she was one of twenty-one children. Mildred lived most of her life in Raymond, NH and moved to Stratford in 1997 and lived there until she moved to Groveton nine years ago. Before retiring in 1986 she worked for 40 years for Clebro Brothers Shoe Factory in Derry, NH. Mildred was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Raymond; the American Legion Auxiliary in Epping and the Moose Club in Groveton. She loved to camp at the Bog for over 25 years; enjoyed shooting darts; quilting; crocheting; dancing; fishing; music and doing puzzles. Mildred is survived by three children William L. Knapp and wife Kathleen of Calais, VT; Jerry Gagne of Groveton, NH and Margaret Costello and husband Timothy of Pembroke, MA; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; eleven siblings Morris Robinson of Maine; Ramona Fencdermaker of Florida; Grover "Zeke" Eaton of Raymond, NH; Twins Rebecca Van Udarfield and Larry Eaton both of Florida; Frank Eaton of North Stratford, NH; Abby Soule and Beatrice Ross both of Florida and Charlie Eaton, Malcolm Eaton and Leon Eaton all of Raymond, NH along with too many nieces, nephews and cousins to count. She was predeceased by her husband William Vail Knapp, Jr. on May 22, 2006; two daughters Dorothy Finch and Marie Taylor; and siblings Peter; George "Sonny"; William; Doris "Babe"; James; Alice and Susie. At Mildred's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the New Pine Grove Cemetery on Epping Street in Raymond, NH at 11:00 am with her son William officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
