MILTON BLODGETT PARADIS, 96, of North Stratford, died peacefully at his home on Friday, January 28, 2022.
Milton was born on April 16, 1925, in North Stratford, NH, a son of the late Joseph George and Elva Vera (Blodgett) Paradis. He was a lifelong resident of North Stratford.
Milton was a graduate of Stratford High School. After high school, he served his country as a SEABEE from 1943 to 1946. He served during the battle of Iwo Jima, he was part of the first wave onto the island and then went to Nagasaki to clean up after the atomic bomb. He was a member of the VFW Post 6808, Groveton and the 52/20 Club and the Northland American Legion Post #47, Canaan, VT.
Milton was on the first basketball team in North Stratford to receive a championship.
Before retiring, Milton worked as a Postal Clerk for 17 years and then Post Master for 13 years in North Stratford. He was a Selectman for the town for three years.
Milton is survived by two nephews Kenneth G. Baizley and Donald Baizley; one niece Darlene Jolly and their families; and many friends. He will be missed by all.
Milton was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Violet on May 20, 1992; his significant other of 32 years Charlotte (Sheltey) Blodgett on September 22, 2014; and four siblings Elmer Paradis; Arlene Seavey; Delmar Paradis and Leona Paradis.
At Milton's request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton with Pastor Eungil Cho of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating.. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Fairview Cemetery, North Stratford on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 3:00 pm.
