PATRICK LOUIS DOHERTY, JR, 90, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Country-Village Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster due to complications of COVID-19.
Pat was born on February 17, 1930, in Groveton, NH a son of Patrick Louis Doherty, Sr. and Mary Catherine (Chadwick) Doherty.
He was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1947. After high school, Pat enlisted in the US Army and served his country for thirteen years. Other than his time in the military, Pat was a resident of Groveton until moving to Country-Village in 2018.
Before retiring, he worked for thirty years as a papermaker for James River Corp. Pat and his wife "Buzzy" were volunteers at the Northumberland Meeting House for approximately fifteen years.
Pat was a member of the Groveton American Legion, Post #17. He enjoyed hiking; hunting and fishing.
Pat is survived by one brother Lawrence "Tony" Doherty; and a long-time friend and guardian, Diane Daly.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife of 46 years, Priscilla "Buzzy" Doherty on February 3, 2015; one sister Florence Blanchard; and two brothers Mike Doherty and Joseph Doherty.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 9:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
