PHILBERT "DIDE" L. BROOKS, SR., 95, died peacefully Monday, July 11, 2005 at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster. Born June 25, 1910 in Groveton a son of Albert and Mina (Brunell) Brooks, he has been a lifelong resident. Before retiring in 1972 he worked as a millwright for Diamond International. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Groveton. Phil is survived by his children Marilyn "June" Roy of Berlin, NH; Philbert "Phil" G. and wife Theresa Brooks, Jr.; Evelena and husband Roger Chauvette Sr.; and Stanley Brooks, Sr. all of Groveton. Thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Gaudette) Brooks on January 12, 1989; his brothers and sister Clyde; Florence; Nathan; Emil; Raymond; and Hollis and also one great grandson Braxton Mortensen. Calling hour will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church; 11 State Street; Groveton, with Fr. Daniel Deveau, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery; Groveton.
