PHILIP E. "PHIL" STEARNS, SR. 85 of Croteau Road, died Tuesday March 21, 2006 at Country-Village Genesis Elder; Lancaster. Born in Eden, Vermont on March 20, 1921 a son of Roland and Florence L. (Wells) Stearns he was a resident of Stark most of his life. Phil was a veteran of the United State Army serving during WWII. Before retiring in 1983 he worked for 37 years for Diamond International Papers and James River Corp. He was a member of the Stark United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, painting artwork and carpentry. Phil is survived two daughters Diane and Joe Berube of Groveton and Joy and Norman Potter of Stark; one son Philip "Phil" E. Stearns, Jr. of Stark; son-in-law Bob Dodge of Orange City, FL; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; one sister Marilyn McArthur of Wolcott, VT; two brothers Wayne Stearns of West Lebanon and Melvin Stearns of North Caroline along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Doris on November 19, 1987; daughter Patricia Dodge on May 25, 2004; two infant sons; four sisters; two brothers. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 24th from 2-4 & 7-9 Pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25th at the Stark United Methodist Church; Route 110; Stark with the Rev. Sherry O'Bara, pastor officiating.
