Obituary

RAYMOND FREDRICK BENOIT, 84, of Melcher Court Apartments, died unexpectedly March 15, 2007 at his residence. Born September 20, 1922 in Laconia, NH a son Joseph and Rose (Neguit) Benoit he has been a resident of Groveton for 39 years, coming from Lunenburg, VT. Ray's dad died when he was very young and he loved and respected his mom tremendously for being able to raise him and his siblings by herself. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Before retiring he was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of both the National Trapper's Association and the New Hampshire Trapper's Association. He was a member of the VFW Post # 816, Littleton. Ray loved hunting, fishing and working with horses; he also enjoyed visiting with people while he was collecting recyclables and even when he wasn't. He enjoyed going to his military reunions and spending time with other veterans. Ray is survived by five sons Kenneth E. Benoit of Marion, Virginia; Roland F. Benoit of Cayce, SC; Raymond J. Benoit of Groveton; the twins Larry G. Benoit of Thornton, NH and Jerry D. Benoit of Guildhall, VT; five daughters Sandra M. MacKillop of Lancaster, NH; Carmen R. Sweezey of Panama City Beach, FL; Rose M. Menzie of Groveton; Isabelle A. Kleinscrodt of Dalton, NH; and Tina Deep of Milton, VT. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and dear old friend Millicent Bean of Tilton, NH. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years Chloe J. (Hogdon) Benoit on May 16, 2001; his parents; one son David Benoit; one daughter Elaine Holmes; one sister and three brothers. At Raymond's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside services with full military honors will be held May 19, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Cushman Cemetery in Dalton, NH with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church officiating.
