RICHARD M. HAVRDA, SR. , 75, of Route 3 North Stratford, died on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a long period of declining health.
Richard was born on October 3, 1942 in Manhattan, NY a son of Jerry and Emily (Beber) Havrda. He has been a resident of North Stratford for the past 40 years coming from Milford, CT.
Richard worked as an Electronic Technician for Robert Shaw Controls and US Motors both of Connecticut. After moving to North Stratford in 1977 he worked for Pitney Bowes, North Country Education Services and later in life at Butson's in Lancaster and IGA in Colebrook.
Richard was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, and a Charter member of the Kiwanis Club in Colebrook. He was a tinkerer; enjoyed fixing radios and even built his own stereo system. He was an old car enthusiast, especially Cadillacs.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years N. Jeanne Havrda of North Stratford; three children Christine Whiting of North Stratford; Richard Havrda, Jr. of Dartmouth, Mass.; and Alyssa (David) Scott of North Stratford; six grandchildren Gillian Scott and partner David Ratliff; Michael (Laura) Scott; Lisa (Jayson) Stinson; Jonathan Whiting and fiancée Rachel Donovan; Sarah Whiting; and Alexis Scott; three great-grandchildren Julianna Russo; Haylie Stinson and Charlotte Stinson; three siblings Barbara Czekaj of Port Orange, FL; Jerome (Carol)Havrda of Killington, CT; and Charles (Marlene)Havrda of Guilford, CT; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Jerry and Emily Havrda and brother in law, Edward Czekaj.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in North Stratford on Friday May 11, 2018 at 10:00 am with Fr. Daniel Deveau, Pastor officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 pm on May 11, 2017 in the St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburg, VT. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the St. Marguerite Parish; PO Box 247; Groveton, NH 03582.
