ROBERT HENRY "BOBBY" PLATT, SR., 88, of Groveton, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with his family by his side.
Bob was born on May 28, 1937, in Northumberland, NH, one of six children of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Louise (Goulet) Platt.
Bob served his country for 21 years. He was in the Air Force for 6.5 years, then the Army for 16.5 years. He was in Vietnam for two years and Germany for seven years.
After retiring from the military in 1976, Bob worked in Quality control for James River Paper Co.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #17 of Groveton, the VFW of Groveton and Lancaster, and the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is survived by six children Melody Everette of Colebrook, Dana Platt of New Braunfels, Texas, Catherine Lunn of Gorham, NH, Sandra Hand and husband Jon of Stewartstown, Dennis Platt and wife Dana of New Port Richey, FL, and Mark Platt and wife Dana of Trinity, FL, twelve grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, one sister Louise Charron and husband Dennis of Groveton, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita (Poulin) Platt on July 3, 2003, son-in-law Dana Lunn on August 6, 2006, son Robert H. "Bobby" Platt, Jr on April 17, 2019, one grandson Nicholas "Nick" Platt on May 13, 2020, two sisters Jeanne Doolan on July 23, 2001, Eleanor Hook on April 28, 2017, two brothers John Platt on August 16, 2022, and Hadley Platt on January 15, 2024.
Memorial Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service following immediately after at 12:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton, with Fr. Craig Cheney, officiated. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery on Brown Road in Groveton.
