Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" PETER SMITH, 84, of Brown Road, died peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster after a period of declining health. Bob was born on June 10, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey a son of Frank and Elizabeth (Eppler) Smith. He was a graduate of the Irvington High School, class of 1949. Bob was a police officer for many years in Westfield, New Jersey. He was a Boy Scout Camp Ranger on Long Island for about ten years. He and his wife Joan summered in Groveton from 1975 until they moved here full time in 1979. After moving north Bob was a police officer for the Town of Northumberland for about ten years and was a watchman at Campbell Envelope. He enjoyed woodworking and made almost all of the furniture in their home. He was a Benefactor Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and camping. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years Joan (Ripley) Smith if Groveton; daughter Linda and Sam Smith of Indiana; and son David and Marilyn Smith of Richmond, VA; one grandson Jason Smith and one great-grandson Jaxon Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Norman Smith. At Bob's request there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
