ROBERT BRUCE STYLES, 78, of State Street, Groveton, died peacefully at his residence on May 6, 2007 with his family by his side, after a lengthy illness. Born on July 16, 1928 in Groveton, NH a son of William and Nellie (Bruce) Styles, he was a lifelong resident. Robert was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1946. He went on to college and graduated with his Batchelor's Degree in Pharmaceuticals and owned and operated Styles Drug Store in Groveton until her retired in the fall of 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He played minor league baseball for the Wisconsin Rapids as a left handed pitcher. He was a huge Yankees fan. He was a past member of the Groveton School Board; Groveton Planning Board; he was very active with the Democratic Party and served on the New Hampshire House of Representatives for one term. He was a member of the American Legion Fredonwarell Post #17 in Groveton and the Mason's Gilky Lodge F & AM 101, Groveton. Robert Bruce enjoyed fishing and loved to go to hunting camp were he did all the cooking and was known as "Cora the cook". Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years Edna (Mayberry) Styles of Groveton; his three daughters and their husbands Rebecca "Becky" and Murray "Rick" Rogers of Stark; Stephany and Hal LaPointe of Anchorage, Alaska and Patricia "Patty" and Roger Stinson of North Stratford; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and three foster great grandchildren; his two brothers and their wives John and Janice Styles of Franklyn, NH and David and Marilyn Styles of Morgan, VT and one sister Dorcas Hogdkins of Salem. Mass; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Robert Bruce Styles II on January 23, 1982 and by his brother-in-law Darrell Hodgkins. At Robert's request there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Groveton Untied Methodist Church with Rev/ Sherry O'Bara pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
