IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger Joseph
Chauvette
August 28, 1943 – February 7, 2024
ROGER JOSEPH CHAUVETTE, 80, of High Street Groveton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after a long illness.
Roger was born in Berlin, NH on August 28, 1943, the son of the late Onesime and Lena (Rabida) Chauvette. Roger graduated from Berlin High School and lived there until 1963 when he enlisted in the Army.
"Papa" as he was lovingly called by his family, was a veteran of the US Army and served his country from 1963 to 1966. After returning from the military, he moved to Groveton in 1969 with the love of his life, Evelena.
Roger worked for Converse Shoe Factory in Berlin, as a young man, then for thirty-plus years, of loyalty, as a paper maker for Diamond International, James River, and Groveton Paperboard. Over the years, he worked for IGA in Northumberland, and for Santa's Village after retirement, but by far his most favorite job ever was driving the school bus for twenty-plus years for SAU 58. He loved safely bringing the children to and from school, on field trips, or to sporting events.
Papa loved spending time with his grandchildren, attending their school functions and sporting events, sitting in the front row, and cheering them on all the way. He enjoyed fishing and crafts. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Papa is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelena (Brooks) Chauvette; four children Roger Chauvette; Randall "Randy" Chauvette; Lorenda Mortensen; and Morenda "Morey" Chauvette all of Groveton, and six grandchildren McKayla; Ashalyn; Kiera; Karli; Brennan; and Lennox.
He was predeceased in addition to his parents, one sister Ann Marie Daigle in 1997 and one grandson Braxton Mortensen in 1997.
