Obituary

RONALD ADRIAN "PA" SCOTT SR., "SCOTTY," 88, Of North Stratford, NH died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2020, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald was born in Boston, MA on February 18, 1932, one of eight children of Jack Thornton Scott, Sr. and Vera Frances (McCaffrey) Scott and grew up in Milton, MA. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving his country during the Korean War. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Korean War Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star. He was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish; the American Legion, Post #17, and the VFW Post #6808. Upon departing from the Army, he joined New England Telephone in 1954, where he worked for 31 years until his "retirement."
In 1987, he and his wife Blanche opted to pursue their dream of owning a campground and started Scott's Big Rock Campground, which they owned until 2003. They also founded and continue to operate Scott's RV Service. In both ventures, they provided honest service and developed long-lasting friendships with their customers. He was a Selectman for the town of Stratford for nine years; chairman of the Planning Board for several years; and did a lot of volunteering. Ronald was a Justice of the Peace and performed several wedding ceremonies, including one for his daughter and one for his oldest grandson. His hobbies included camping, spending time with his family, and working. He lit up a room with his friendly smile, practical jokes, and love of laughter. He was an amazing husband; father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and will be missed by all.
Ronald and his loving wife of 66 years, Blanche (Cheever) Scott of North Stratford created a beautiful life together. He is not only survived by Blanche but also their seven children Ronald Scott, Jr of North Stratford and his significant other Charlotte Poisson of Weare, NH; David Scott and wife Alyssa of North Stratford, NH; Blanche Rogers and husband Scott of Dover, NH; Noreen Ross and husband Stephen of West Bridgewater, MA; Robert Scott and wife Robin of North Stratford, NH; Sharon Connary and husband Ronald of Weare, NH; and Kathleen Covell and husband Dwayne of West Stewartstown, NH; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three sisters-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Scott; Geraldine "Gerri" Scott and Evelyn "Mac" Scott and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his five brothers Jack, Jr.; Allan; Lee; Arthur and Wayne, and two sisters Vera and Patricia and one granddaughter Ashley Morrison.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 5-8 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. A Christian Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 11:00, am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor, officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 10:30 am in the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery; 110 Daniel Webster Highway; Boscawen, NH.
