Obituary

RUTH ANN (MARSHALL) CURRIER, 86, died peacefully Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at her home. A kind and gentle soul, she was born in Lancaster, NH on June 27, 1923 the daughter of Chester and Mildred (Munn) Marshall. She enjoyed growing up on a dairy farm, watching her dad work in his sugar house, sliding down the hills by the Grange back when the roads were rolled instead of plowed and attending the one-room school houses before going on and graduating from Lancaster Academy and Hesser Business College in Manchester, NH. After working in Manchester for a while, she moved back to Lancaster where she married Richard J. Currier in 1944, and they started their family. Later, they moved to Groveton. For thirty years she worked at the Gropaco Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed and appreciated wild life and gardening, as well as reading, watching TV, playing cribbage, doing cryptograms, knitting, reading and writing poetry and at the age of 80 she took up kayaking. She was a blessing to her family and friends, was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, also the Groveton and Lancaster Senior Citizens Clubs, volunteered at the Country Village Nursing Home, Holton Point, the Caleb Group and the NH Child and Family Services. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves a daughter Diane Wiles, a son Steve Currier and wife Barbara all of Groveton and a son Rick Currier of Berlin, seven grandchildren and great- grandchildren; her brother Wayne Marshall and wife Patricia of Lancaster and Florida, her sister Carol Turza and husband Mike of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1996, her brother Rodney Marshall in 1992 and her sister Lillian Ayer in 2003. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Groveton United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, with Pastor Aaron Cox officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
