RUTH ELIZABETH (BAILEY) POTTER, 90, formerly of West Street, Groveton, died peacefully Saturday March 25, 2006 at Country-Village Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster, were she had been a resident for the past 2 ½ years. Born on May 23, 1915 in Sawyerville, Quebec a daughter of Ernest William and Jessie Edith (Brown) Bailey, she has been a resident of Groveton most of her life. Ruth was a graduate of the Groveton High School class of 1934. Ruth was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and the Groveton Methodist Women's Club. She was a member of the Eastern Star,, the Rebecca's and the Grange for over 70 years. Before retiring in 1976, Ruth worked for 26 years in the cafeteria at the Groveton Elementary School, she then became a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Ruth is survived by her daughter Bethany and husband John Ober of Tewksbury, Mass; her son-in-law Charles Kipp of Lancaster; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; along with one niece and four nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Howard Potter in August of 2003; her daughter Joan Kipp; and two brothers Richard Bailey and Carl Bailey. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Groveton United Methodist Church; 46 Church Street with Rev. Sherry O'Bara pastor officiating and Ruth's granddaughter, Rev. Marcia MacKillop co-officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Northumberland Cemetery.
