SAMUEL "BIG SAM" CARL STONE, 81, of Bordeau Rd., Stratford died peacefully on May 16, 2019, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster with his loving family by his side.
Sam was born in Stratford, NH on December 6, 1937, a son of Omega Frank and Isabelle M. (Sargent) Stone.
He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards and cruising the backroads looking for wildlife. Sam loved his wife, children, grandchildren and two great-granddaughters and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a simple and fun-loving man.
Sam is survived by his children Melanie Stone of Colebrook; Joshua Stone and girlfriend Nicole Briere of Stratford; Melissa White and husband Ron of Lancaster; Samantha Stone and boyfriend Daniel Patino of Stratford and Texas; Sara Willey and husband Brad of Twin Mountain; Jakelene Stone and boyfriend Shannon Whitcomb of Lancaster; and Samuel D. Stone of Poland, ME; his granddaughter/daughter Kyra Wright-Ball; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Carlene R. (Mills) Stone on April 4, 2011; a granddaughter Sammy Jo Wright; and his six brothers Frankie; Elmer; Nick; Jimmy; Normand; and Henry.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 4-7 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in the Center Cemetery in Stratford.
