SARAN "SANDY" MARY (PLATT) HOLDEN, 80, of Summit Rd in Whitefield and formerly of Groveton, died peacefully at Littleton Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
Saran was born in Groveton, NH on December 18, 1939, to Frank and Ruth (Cass) Platt. She grew up in Groveton, moved away for a few years and returned to Groveton eight years ago and then moved to The Summit in May of 2019.
Saran had her Master's Degree in Social Services and was a Certified Play Therapist. Before retiring she worked for the State of New Hampshire and St. Lawrence County in New York.
Saran loved painting; she was a past member of the Northumberland School Board for four years and was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church.
Saran is survived by her husband of 56 years Kent Holden of Whitefield; their children Joshua Holden of Ogdensburg, NY; Kristen Bunce of Ogdensburg, NY and Andrew Holden of Littleton, NH; three grandchildren; one sister Cheryl Roy of Concord, NH; one aunt Flora Auger of Whitefield; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents and one son Clifford Holden.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton, NH. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Patricia Williams of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be on June 5, 2020, at 1:00 pm in the Northumberland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Saran's name to a charity of one's choice.
