SHAYNE MICHAEL LEWIS RUCH, 26, of Berlin and formerly of Stratford, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2026, due to complications of his Marfan Syndrome.

Shayne was born in Albany, New York, on September 7, 1999, a son of Greg Lewis and Teresa Elizabeth (Cook) Ruch. He resided in Newburgh, NY, until moving to Stratford at the age of 14.

Shayne earned the nickname “Goofy” from his classmates for being the “Class Clown,” always upbeat and with a smile on his face. He was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 2018. For his Senior project, he built his first computer system and has enjoyed building them since.

Shayne loved the outdoors, riding his ATV and snow machines. He won a trophy at an AVT Rodeo and was very proud of it. Shayne also enjoyed reading science fiction books and freehand sketching, which he was quite good at.

Shayne is survived by his father, Greg Lewis Ruch, and wife Katia of Stratford, his brother Shaun Lewis Ruch of Newport, VT, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Teresa Ruch, on May 25, 2020, and a cousin, Joseph Wagner-Ruch, on February 9, 2009.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Fairview Cemetery on Old Mill Road in Stratford, with Pastor Mike Pelletier of the Stratford Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
