SHIRLEY M. MILES , 80 of Hillside Ave. Groveton died peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster after a lengthy illness with her loving family by her side.

Shirley was born in Barton, Vermont on June 28, 1936 and has been a resident of Groveton most of her life.  She was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church and helped with the funeral luncheons for thirty plus years.  She was famous for her baked beans.

Shirley worked as a teacher's aide for twenty years at the Groveton Elementary School. She was a patient sitter at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster for five years.

She was a member of the Groveton American Legion Auxiliary, Post # 17 and she loved to play BINGO.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years David B. Miles of Groveton; three children David H. Miles and wife "Tibby" of Merrimack, NH; Kathy St. Onge and husband Michael of Groveton; and Mark Miles and wife Kim of North East, PA; nine grandchildren Casey Dowland; Derek Miles; Devin Miles; Nathan "Brooker" Perry; Taylor Miles; Marie Miles; Rosie Miles; John Miles and Julianna Miles; her brother Donald "Bud" Harris and her Best friend/sister Joan Kenney of Groveton.

Shirley was predeceased by one granddaughter Christie St. Onge on January 11, 2005.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday August 7, 2016 from 5-8 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will be on Monday August 8, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church with Pastor Danielle Rodrigues officiating. Burial will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery.
