SIMONE ANNA (DUBE) BENOIT , 83, of Groveton died peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster after a period of failing health.

Simone was born in Barford, Canada on May 20, 1934 a daughter of Adelarde and Jeanne Dube. She has been a resident of Groveton since coming here with her husband Edward in 1962.

Simone was the "Sweetest woman who ever lived".  Before moving to the states she was a nurse in Coaticook, PQ.  After moving to the states Simone raised her eight children and did housekeeping for many personal homes and businesses.

She loved babies; church; knitting; quilting; walking; sewing; cooking; gardening and watching her grandchildren.

Simone is survived by four daughters Pauline Gibbs of North Stratford; Noella Begin of Groveton; Diane Brooks of Groveton; and Lucille Cunningham of Canaan, VT; four sons Raymond Benoit of Groveton; Andre Benoit of Nantucket, MA; Daniel Benoit of Lancaster; and Dennis Benoit of Groveton; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six siblings Diane Dube Vaillancourt; George Dube; Joe Dube; Richard Dube; Real Dube; and Robert Dube and numerous nieces and nephews.

Simone was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 49 years Edward W. "Frenchy" Benoit on November 24, 2003; one grandson Jeremy Begin on July 30, 2001; three sisters Pauline St. Onge; Ferdinand Dube; Jeannine Ouellette; and two brothers Roland Dube and Reginald Dube.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2-4 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 4:00 pm at the funeral home with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor of the St. Marguerite de'Youville Parish officiating.  Burial will be in the spring in the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
