Obituary

Simonne D. Cotter, 91, of Groveton, NH, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 4, 1918, in East Hereford, PQ, the oldest child of Alcée and Florida (Gagner) Fournier. She retired as a Title I teacher at Groveton Elementary School in 1994. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed baking pies, playing cards, and solving her daily Cryptoquips and Jumbles. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for many years. She has lived in the Groveton area nearly 70 years. She was a beloved matriarch. She is survived by her 13 children, Paul Cotter and wife Alice of Poinciana, FL; Raymond Cotter and wife Jackie of West Covina, CA; Louise Boothby and husband Jerry of Greensboro, NC; Norman Cotter and wife Bonnie of Northumberland; Robert Cotter and wife Patty of Lancaster; Muriel Hall and husband Tim of Bow; Mona Cotter of Oakley, UT; Maurice Cotter and wife Brenda of Denair, CA; Lorraine Cotter of Brattleboro, VT; Pauline Hedberg and husband Ted of Dover; Susie Riley and husband Jerry of Brunswick, VT; Lynn Collins and husband Mike of Waterford, VT; and Daniel Cotter and wife Kim of Spofford. Simonne leaves behind 8 siblings: Gisele Hood of Bedford NH; Blandine Dube of Valrico, FL; Carmen Patterson of Chateguay, NY; Fernand Fournier of Manlius, NY; Raoul Fournier of Littleton, NH; Bruno Fournier of Pike, NH; Real Fournier of Quechee,VT; and Richard Fournier of Monroe, VT. She had 31 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Francis, son Leo, grandson Keith Cotter, brothers Laurent Fournier, Gerard Fournier, Germain Fournier, Doris Fournier, Conrad Fournier, and sisters Stella Fournier and Monique Willey. Calling hours will be at Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton on Monday, October 25, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton. Committal will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
