Obituary

STEPHEN WALTER "STEVIE" RUSS A.K.A. "The Mayor of Groveton", 62, of Page Hill Trailer Park in Lancaster and formerly of Hillside Ave in Groveton died peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster after a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.

Stevie was born on April 5, 1955 in Groveton, NH a son of George W. and Doris M. (Willard) Russ.  He was a resident of Groveton until he moved to Lancaster to live with his brother Bill in 1997.  Stevie came to Groveton every day and spent his days "taking care" of Groveton; doing his traffic control; helping people cross the street and "running" errands.

He was active with the Senior Meals; was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, post #17, Groveton. He was very patriotic and very proud to march in the local parades with the Sons of the American Legion.

Stevie was one-of-a-kind; he was everyone's friend and the Town of Northumberland and his neighbors in Page Hill Trailer Park were all his family.

Stevie is survived by one brother William T. "Bill" Russ (Valerie Foy) of Lancaster; three sisters Patricia Ann McCaffrey (Robert) of Loxahatchee, FL; Doris Russ-Strout (Roger) and Roxann Gonyer (James) all of Groveton; nieces and nephews Marlo and Mia; Kimberly and family; Kacie and family; Laurie and family; Aaron and family; Sarah and family; Mandy and family and Daegan and his wife; one aunt Mary Thibodeau; numerous cousins; and his best friend Robert "Goober" Hibbard.

He was predeceased by his father George W. Russ in 1968; his brother George E. Russ in 1992 and his mother Doris M. Russ in 2005.
