STEWART A. LEDGER, 79 of First Street, Groveton, died peacefully, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster after a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Groveton a son of Frank and Nettie (Brigham) Ledger he was a resident of Groveton his whole life with the exception of from 1958 to 1965 when he lived in Connecticut. Stewart was in the U.S. Navy and while in the Navy he Boxed and was the champion for his weight category; he played hockey and was a semi-pro figure ice-skater. Over the years he worked for Robert's Motor Sales; White Mountain Mack and drove truck for Normandeau Trucking. He was a member of the Groveton Untied Methodist Church. He loved stock car racing, he used to race himself for a few years and enjoyed watching, Ricky, Jerrad, and Jonathan. When the children where younger they all would go roller staking at Dubrielle's on Friday nights. Stewart enjoyed bowling, dancing, walking and camping. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandson. Stewart is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Cindy Ledger of Groveton; his five children Gregory Ledger and wife Mary Ann of Groveton; Ricky Ledger and wife Dyana of South Berwick, ME; Belinda Ledger and Lance Normandeau of Groveton; Jonathan Ledger and wife Rachel of Colebrook; and Jerrad Ledger and Amanda Frizzell of Lancaster; twelve grandchildren Miranda; Doug; Jon-Leslie; Ashley; Kelsey; Sarah; Jayna; Austin; Kamryn; Wyatt; Amaya; and Lena; and one great grandson, Zackary. Three brothers, George Ledger of Bristol, CT; Roger Ledger of Eustis, FL and William Ledger of Forestville, CT; and one sister Barbara Sanocki of Winchester, NH also survive him along with numerous nieces and nephews. Stewart was predeceased by his parents; two brothers Theodore and Francis and one sister Alice. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will by in the springtime in the Northumberland Cemetery.
