GROVETON SYDNEY "SYD" SYLVIA (SHATNEY) BOYLE, 65, of Dean Brooke Drive, died Friday October 14, 2005 at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT after a lengthy illness. Born August 18, 1940 a daughter of the late Harold E. and Evelyn J. (Hartlen) Shatney she lived in the Colebrook Area and attended school in Canaan, VT. She worked for the Mountain View and Spaulding Inn as a waitress and traveled back and forth with them to Boca Raton, FL until marriage. In 1962 she moved to East Hartford, CT were she raised her children. In 1987 she attended secretarial school then worked for the YMCA until she retired in 2001 and moved to Groveton. Sydney was a member of the Women of the Moose; the American Legion Auxiliary and the Groveton Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband of 30 years James R. Boyle of Groveton; four sons Dominic Boyle of Penns.; Edward and wife Charlotte Wilson of East Hartford, CT; Ernie Wilson of East Hartford, CT and James Boyle of FL; one daughter Evelyn and husband Mike Hopkins of Groveton; eight grandchildren Jonathan; Jackie; Dusty; Erica; Vyktoria; Madison; Patrick and Jacob. She is also survived by her four sisters Cassandra "Sandy" White of Groveton; Urbina Shatney of Charlestown, NH; Hallie Johnston and Harriet Sanborn both of Groveton along with one brother John Shatney of Groveton. At Sydney's request there were no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Sunday October 16th at 2:00 pm at the Emerson Road Cemetery in Stark with the Rev. Sherry O'bara, pastor of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial donations may be sent to the Groveton Senior Meals; c/o Debbie Montgomery; 59 Brooklyn Street; Groveton, NH 03582.
