THELMA ANNE (MILLS) STEVENS BICKFORD, 87 of Riverside Drive, Berlin, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at Coos County Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born July 28, 1921 in Groveton, NH a daughter of Homer and Gertrude (Morgan) Mills she was a lifelong resident of Groveton until moving to Berlin with her daughter in June of 2008. Thelma worked for several years for Groveton Paper Co and then Lancaster Shoe Factory and worked all her life until retiring in the 1980's. She was a member of the Groveton Untied Methodist Church. During her high school years she was very active in Basketball and other sports. Before loosing her eyesight she enjoyed reading; playing Bingo and loved to dance. Thelma is survived by her two children Dawn Coulombe and husband Lee of Berlin and Blaine Stevens and wife Brenda of Springfield, MA; four grandchildren Sherrie Ryan, David Coulombe, Jennifer Stevens and Marissa Stevens and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Roland "Polly" Stevens and her second husband Mannix "Manny" Bickford. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 1pm - 4pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton with the funeral service immediately following at the funeral home, with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Northumberland Cemetery.
