THERESA ETTA (GIBSON) PEEL, 85 , of Brooklyn Street, Groveton, died peacefully at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin on Saturday, April 10, 2021.
Theresa was born on September 28, 1935, in Stark, NH a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Maude Ada (Gouchey) Gibson and has resided most of her life in the Stark/Groveton area.
Theresa spent several years working at Campbell Envelope Company in Groveton, NH, before moving to Salem, NH. In Salem she worked for AT & T prior to becoming involved with the work she enjoyed most, caring for adults with special needs. Theresa found great joy with her work in group homes both in Salem, NH, and Newport News, VA. She eventually became guardian for one of her developmentally disabled clients, Dick, whom she held near and dear to her heart.
Her hobbies included fishing, dancing, traveling, reading, gardening, and crafting. She loved sharing her bountiful harvests and her handmade quilts with family and friends. Theresa was a leader in the Jolly Piloteers 4-H Club in Stark, NH, and a member for Fredonwarell Post 17 American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout her years at Coos County Nursing Home, Theresa became an avid artist, creating many pictures of nature which now hang in the homes of her children.
Theresa is survived by three sons Dean Peel and wife Karen of West Gardner, ME; Durwood Peel and wife Donna of Northbridge, MA; Danforth Peel and wife Patricia of Stark, NH; daughter-in-law, Susan Peel of Groveton, NH; nine grandchildren Robin Hagar and husband Richard; Richard Harris; Brian Harris and wife Robyn; Duane Berry and wife Carol; Stephany Burnham and Al; Dale Locke and wife Jennifer; Douglas Peel and wife Alyssa; Christina Murphy and Marc; Catherine Murphy; Cassandra Murphy and Chris; Patrick Murphy and Elizabeth; Dominique Efird-Peel and wife Kelly; Julius Peel and Elizabeth Jurgilewicz; Benjamin Stinson and wife Tammy; Pamela Castor and husband Adam; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Chandis Gibson and wife Mariam of Dunbarton, NH; several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents; her two sons, David Peel and Douglas Peel; three sisters Leatha Giggy, Mildred Hopps, and Opal Potter; and two brothers Kenneth Gibson and Henry Gibson.
At Theresa's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held May 8, 2021, at 1 pm in the Emerson Road Cemetery in Stark. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
