THOMAS "TOM" GERALD SOUZA, 74, of Lost Nation Rd, Groveton died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, after a lengthy illness with his loving wife and children by his side.

Tom was born on September 14, 1946, in New Bedford, MA a son of Joseph and Eva (Oliveira) Souza. A Veteran of the US Navy, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning from the Navy he moved to Lancaster, NH where he met and married Joy. He worked at the Groveton Mill for four years before moving to Massachusetts and working for the Department of Corrections at Bay State Correctional Center in Norfolk, MA retiring in 1995 as a Captain. After retirement Tom and Joy permanently moved to Groveton in 2006.

Tom loved spending time with his family, meticulously caring for his home and yard. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and being right. Tom had a gift for telling a story around a campfire, keeping his audience in suspense and entertained.

Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joy H. (McIntire) Souza of Groveton; their two children, daughter Charlotte Jeannotte and her husband Brian of Bar Harbor, ME, their children Alec, Mia, and Evan, all of Bar Harbor, ME; and son Aaron Souza, his wife Beth and their son, Jack, all of Walpole, MA; and three brothers Robert, Richard, and Joseph, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and an infant son, Thomas Scott Souza.

At Tom's request there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
