THURMAN FLEURY BLODGETT, 80, died peacefully at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital on Sunday, June 14, 2020, after a brief illness.
Thurman was born on December 26, 1939, in Stratford, NH a son of Ralph Thurman and Eileen S. (Fleury) Blodgett and was a lifelong resident of Stratford until moving to Coos County Nursing Hospital in Stewartstown.
Before retiring in 1998, he worked for James River Corp. and Wausau Papers in Groveton for 40 years. He was a retired Fireman for the Stratford Hollow Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking and his and Corinne's favorite thing to do together was to go camping.
Thurman's caregivers at, as he called it, "The Farm and/or Home" at Coos County Nursing Hospital were his family. His children would like to thank them for the love and care they gave to Thurman over the past few years.
Thurman is survived by his three children Randy Blodgett and wife Carolyn of Groveton; Daphne Blodgett of Mechanic Falls, ME; and Robbie Blodgett and wife Kendra of Groveton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five siblings Waverly Robinson and husband Herman of Berlin; Donna Ramsdell of Groveton; Tim Blodgett and wife Delores of Groveton; Patsy Ruggiero and husband Joe of Manchester and Valerie Reed and husband Wayne of Jefferson; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Corinne Blodgett on May 10, 2016, and one son Ricky Blodgett on April 1, 1985.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 2:30 pm at the Assembly of God Church; 637 Main St.; Lancaster, with Pastor Seth Frink, officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery; Route 3; Stratford, NH.
