VERN WESLEY GADWAH, 79, of Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center, died peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2009 after a brief illness surrounded by his family. Born November 17, 1929 in Colebrook a son of Victor and Jessie (Hanson) Gadwah he was a longtime resident of Groveton. Vern was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Before retiring he worked for many years as a machine tender for James River Corp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved playing cribbage, watch ball games and movies. He also likes going out to eat and then take a ride. He liked to spend time with his family and travel. Vern is survived by his wife Bonnie Gadwah of Groveton; his children Janice Merrill of Manchester, NH; Jeanne Smith and husband Larry of St. Johnsbury, VT; Mitchell Gadwah and wife Jill of Manchester, NH; Joanne Legere of Bristol, CT; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his step-children Shelba Tetu of Littleton; Robert Tetu of Honolulu, HI; Leora Rivers of Groveton, NH and Raylene Tetu of Malden, MA; six step-grandchildren; six siblings Mervyn Gadwah of Colebrook, NH; Norman Gadwah of West Thompson, VT; Victor Gadwah, Jr. of Meriden, CT; Hilda Stouffer of Boston, Virginia; Esta Huntley of Meriden, CT and Glendon Gadwah of Boscawen, NH; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Vivian (Donovan) Gadwah; his parents and two brothers Clement Gadwah and Leonard Gadwah. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 2pm - 6pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be in the spring in the St. Francis Cemetery in Groveton.
