PITTSBURG/GROVETON OUTDOORSMAN VERN KEVIN SHANNON,42 of Forest Lane, Pittsburg, died at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, July 28, 2005 after a sudden heart attack. Born in Lancaster, New Hampshire a son of the late Otis Shannon and Sylvia (Strawn) Shannon he lived in Groveton until December of 2001 when he moved to Pittsburg. He was a graduate of Groveton High School, Class of 1981. Before receiving an injury that kept him from working he was employed as a machine operator for Groveton Paper Board. As a youth he attended Groveton United Methodist Church and most recently Grace United Methodist Church in Canaan, VT. Vern loved moosing, fishing, hunting, yard sales, antiques. He also loved to pick wild flowers, gardening and animals. He was a past member of the Sons of the American Legion, post # 17 Groveton; the Groveton Ambulance Corp; Groveton Community Christmas Committee, the Grange and was the past Scout Master of Troup 233, Groveton. In addition to his mother Sylvia Shannon of Groveton he is survived by his wife of 10 weeks, Laura (Judkins) Shannon of Pittsburg; three sons Christopher Shannon; Ryan Shannon and Kevin Shannon all of Groveton; three daughters Jamie Jameson; Jennifer Jameson and Jackie Jameson all of Pittsburg; His Grandmother Ida Shannon of Stark; three brothers Terry Shannon of Berne, New York; Ivan Shannon of Groveton and Kim Shannon of Bethel, Maine; one sister Iris Emerson of Groveton; and his in-laws Sylvia and Bill Judkins of Pittsburg also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 6-8 PM at Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral Services will be held immediately after at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy McDowell of Grace United Methodist Church, Canaan officiating.
