Wilfred "Fred" Dumas,88, died peacefully on Sunday May 30, 2010 at The Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield with his family by his side. Born November 26, 1921 in Belin, NH a son of Alphonse and Celina (Bergeron) Dumas he came to Groveton from Lancaster and lived in Groveton for over thirty-five years before moving to Whitefield. Before retiring he was employed by Normandeau Trucking for many years. He was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish if Groveton. Fred was a past member of the Groveton Fire Department; he was employed as a Groveton Police Officer for eight years; past Groveton Ambulance Corp member for five years and was the Ambulance Corp director for four years. Fred is survived by his brother Joseph "George" Dumas and wife Carline of Whitefield; two sisters Irene Bourassa of Essex Junction, VT and Doris Whitcomb of Whitefield and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy "Dot" Dumas May 12, 2000; and a sister Dora Bourassa in 2002. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 3-5 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Mass will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in the Northumberland Cemetery.
