WILLIAM ROBERT "BOB" BURNS, 73 of Groveton, died peacefully Monday July16, 2007 at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster after a lengthy illness. Born August 26, 1933 in Springfield, Kentucky a son of Luther and Florene (Lanham) Burns he has been a resident of Groveton since 1968. He grew up in Kentucky until 1954 when he moved to Gorham, NH then came to Groveton. He was a graduate of Gorham High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Bob retired from Wausau Papers in 1996 after working there for 28 years as a checker in the finishing department. He loved riding motorcycles and was a 34 year member of the American Legion Fredonwarell post # 17 in Groveton. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Emily (Peabody) Burns of Groveton; his six children Michael Burns of Portsmouth, NH; Rebekah Potter of Laconia, NH; Barry Colebank of Groveton; Robert "Bob" Colebank of Brunswick/Maidstone, VT; William "Bill Colebank of Groveton and Sandra Douglas of Morrisville, VT; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother Jake Burns of Perryville, Kentucky and sister Lillian Bottoms of Battle Creek, Miss.; and several aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton on Tuesday July 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Don William of the Mountain View Baptist Church in Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Week's Hospice Center; 173 Middle Street; Lancaster, NH 03584.
