William Louis "Bill" Osgoode, 79, of Brown Road, Groveton died peacefully Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Week's Memorial Hospital in Lancaster after a lengthy illness. Born January 28, 1931 in Burlington, VT a son of Gary Ellis and Ruth Osgood, he grew up in Pittsburg, NH, where he was raised by his mother Ruth and step-father Ralph Huggins. Bill lived in Lebanon, NH for several years and then moved to Groveton in 1974. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Before retiring in 2000 he was employed by Normandeau Trucking as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, puttering around the house and yard. He managed the Town Skating Rink for many years and he loved Town Politics. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years Winona (Roby) Osgoode of Groveton; three daughters Janice Cass and her significant other David Ashford of Washington, NH; Rosalie Defosse of husband JR and Beverly Rolfe all of Groveton; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters Eva LeMay, Marjorie Straw and Hallie Perron all of Pittsburg, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Wayne Osgoode in 1994. Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 11, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Hollow Cemetery in Pittsburg, NH. Memorial donation may be made in Bill's name to the charity of one's choice.
