DEBRA DOYLE, 67, of Main St. Colebrook, died suddenly on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.
Debra was born on November 30, 1952, in Gainesville, FL the daughter of the late Larry and Mildred (Morgan) Doyle. She grew up in Denison, Texas, where she graduated from Denison High School in 1970. She got her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas. She met and married her husband, James "Mac" Macdonald, while she was attending graduate school in Philadelphia, then moved around the world during his military service, to settle in Colebrook in 1990.
Debra received her Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Icelandic from the University of Pennsylvania. Along with "Mac", she wrote approximately 30 novels and 30 short stories and is best known for the Mageworlds series from Tor Books.
Debra is survived by her husband of 42 years James "Mac" Macdonald of Colebrook; their four children Katherine "Kat" Crighton of Worcester, MA; Brendan Macdonald of Pittsburgh, PA; and the twins Peregrine "Pippin" Macdonald of Keene, NH, and Alexander "Alex" Macdonald of Boston, MA; two grandchildren and her brother John Doyle of Colebrook.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. A Celebration of Debra's life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
