JOAN (WEIR) MONROE ,83, of Stark Highway, Stark, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Littleton Regional Hospital.
Joan was born on April 15, 1938, in Laconia, NH. She lived most of her life in the Laconia area. She moved to and lived in Stark for several years; moved to Camden for seven years, and then back to Stark three years ago.
Before retiring, Joan worked as a seamstress in her younger years. She became a CNA and worked at the Laconia Hospital for several years; then worked in private duty caring for individuals at their homes; and then worked in the Alzheimer unit at Laconia Rehabilitation Center.
She enjoyed crocheting and to read. She was a wonderful mother; a very companionate and caring person; and a great friend.
Joan is survived by her significant other of 44 years Paul Leighton of Stark; five children Cheryl Dockery of Knoxville, TN; Tracey Monroe of Kittery, ME; Raymond Monroe of Berlin, NH; Hollis Monroe of Heiskell, TN; and Debra Mincey of Knoxville, TN; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter Peggy Bartlett on March 2, 2022; one granddaughter Jennifer Jones; and one grandson Kerri Noack.
Graveside service for both Joan and Peggy will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster, with Pastor Eungil Cho of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
