We use the ONLY crematorium “north of the notches”. Most funeral homes and even companies who advertise cremation as their sole focus, do not offer their families this peace of mind. When entrusted to us, your loved one travels only 30 miles to Androscoggin Valley Crematory in Berlin. This is a FAMILY owned and operated crematory and we are proud to say, the only crematory we trust. No transporting loved one’s a hundred plus miles from home. From the transfer from place of death until they are returned to your care, or secured at their place of final rest, they are cared for by FAMILY owned and operated facilities, and compassionate, and caring people.

Our Direct Cremation package is designed for those who choose cremation and no additional services or ceremony. This package includes:

In-person consultation
Filing and obtaining all necessary authorizations and permits
Obtaining Certified Death Certificates from the State of New Hampshire or the state where the death occurred
Obituary assistance, posting of obituary on our website and Social Media pages
Notification of the death to the Social Security Administration
Filing of applicable Veterans benefits paperwork
Cremation is to be completed by Androscoggin Valley Crematory in Berlin
Release of the cremated remains at our office or hand delivery of cremated remains to your home, if within our service area

This package does not include an urn, though one may be added depending on the wishes of the family. If no urn is selected, the cremated remains are released in a rigid cardboard container suitable for recycling after the final disposition of cremated remains.

Other items NOT included: state charges for death certificates, newspaper fees (the vast majority of newspapers charge for obituary submission), services of third parties, or transportation expenses if the deceased dies out of state or beyond 30 miles from our offices.

This package is designed to give families who desire cremation without any additional services or ceremonies time to come to the funeral home to have a final goodbye with their loved ones before cremation. This package sets aside up to 30 minutes for IMMEDIATE family members to come to the funeral home. Includes standard cremation container, bathing and topical disinfection of deceased, dressing the deceased in clothing provided by the family, and minimal preparation services.

This package DOES NOT include embalming — as such this package is not available in trauma, an autopsy, organ donation, or other circumstances present where the deceased cannot be adequately presented. Per funeral home policy, this must take place within 24 hours of the time of death if permission for embalming is not given. Please ask our funeral directors if you have any questions.

This package includes basic services of the funeral director and staff, the initial transfer of remains to the funeral home within the local area, washing/disinfection of the deceased when no embalming, temperature-controlled care of remains during the required holding period. Cremation at Androscoggin Valley Crematory in Berlin. A Celebration of Life or other gathering of family and friends at our facility for up to three hours including words of remembrance/ceremony.

Cremation at Androscoggin Valley Crematory in Berlin. A Graveside Service is to be held at a local cemetery, as well as necessary staff and equipment.

Three hours of visitation/viewing at the funeral home the day before the service, a Funeral Service is to be held at our funeral home, place of worship, or other venue, use of the hearse. Cremation at Androscoggin Valley Crematory, Berlin, following funeral services. Funeral Director and staff to coordinate and oversee the interment of cremated remains at a local cemetery.
